For the Dental Group of Chicago, a multi-location DSO, Remit AI’s Posting Automation (integrated via Open Dental API) transformed their revenue cycle management (RCM) within weeks.

Challenge

Dental Group of Chicago spent considerable team hours on daily direct deposit reporting, balancing, and time-consuming process of manual payment posting. Although a significant portion of the DSO’s payments came through direct deposits with insurance companies, the rising volume of payments across multiple practices and a wide range of insurance providers required heavy administrative work, straining resources and reducing overall efficiency. 

Manual payment posting also often led to errors and misapplied amounts, resulting in inaccurate patient financial records. The team at the Dental Group of Chicago recognized that delays in the revenue cycle management (RCM) process would ultimately impact cash flow and hinder the Group’s ability to scale and expand its locations.

Solution

Zentist addressed the Dental Group of Chicago’s challenges implementing its recently launched Remit AI’s Posting Automation feature, which offers real-time read and write-back integration with Open Dental.

Posts bank-reconciled insurance payments at the individual claim line item level in the PMS, in real-time and error-free
Automates adjustments, patient responsibilities, and identifies downgrades or alternate benefits as needed.
Saves the EOB file and a note explaining the posting result, in the PMS database for future reference.

Results

The implementation of Remit AI’s Posting Automation led to significant positive outcomes for the Dental Group of Chicago: 

Automatic Posting Rate: In the 30 days since adoption, at least 73.53% of all payments have been successfully posted automatically, with some days reaching up to 87%, requiring no manual intervention for these automatically posted payments whatsoever.

By reducing manual payment posting to roughly a quarter (or less) of its previous volume, the RCM team achieved a 300% increase in overall productivity.
